Ab 5. Schulstufe

David Almond is a British author writing literature for young adults and children, who has published several novels, each one to critical acclaim. He received numerous prestigious awards, amongst them the Hans Christian Andersen award in 2010, the highest international prize for children`s literature. The Boy who swam with Piranhas is about Stanley Potts, a boy who has lost both parents and now lives with his Aunt Anne and Uncle Ernest. Having lost his job Ernie opens a canning fish factory in his own living room. When Ernie goes crazy and tins his nephew`s goldfish, Stan runs away with the hook-a-duck stall owner of the fair. There he meets the legendary Pancho Pirelli, the man who swims in a tank with piranhas. The question is: Will Stanley be brave enough to swim in there as well? David Almond will read a short passage of his original version. Gerard Es, actor and graduate of English studies at Salzburg University, will read some passages from the German translation and David Almond will be happy to talk about the book afterwards, in English or in German with the help of Gerard Es.
